Vivaldi's use of contrasts and expressive, virtuoso effects was revolutionary for his time. Dutch violinist Janine Jansen follows in his footsteps by taking a unique approach with modern instruments and an orchestra of only one player per movement. The result is as intimate as it is dramatic, and both exuberant and inspiring.
Embodying the Baroque era, the period from the early 17th to mid-18th centuries, these four masterpieces by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi vividly depict the four seasons. Each 'season', written for solo violin and orchestra, consists of three movements: a faster beginning and ending, and a slow middle section.
