"Brand New Life" is Younger's second album for Impulse! Records. For her first album, "Somewhere Different," she won the 2022 Edison Jazz International award. This album features original compositions alongside a selection of interpretations of pieces by Dorothy Ashby, the jazz harpist who had a great influence on Younger. She represents a generation of jazz musicians who grew up in an era when hip-hop was strongly present in American popular culture. On "Brand New Life," she infuses harmony, rhythm, and melody with influences from hip-hop, rock, and pop music.
