Pianist Horace Silver continued to scale the pinnacle of hard bop on
his 1957 album The Stylings Of Silver featuring his swinging quintet with Art Farmer on
trumpet, Hank Mobley on tenor sax, Teddy
Kotick on bass, and Louis Hayes on
drums. The six-song set introduced enduring Silver originals including “No
Smokin’,” “Soulville,” and “Home Cookin’.”
